I've only recently discovered the videos of Comic Book Girl 19
and, holy cow, I'm hooked on her and the CBG19/Team 19 crew!
She is as adorkable as she is a smart cookie, an artist, and a huge
geek! Watch below as she breaks down key points in the 2-part Epic History of House Stark!
I'm single-handedly putting blame on her for making me want
to read the Hunger Games
series now, and that's not a bad thing! Before now, I thought the theme and movies were pretty neat but assumed it was just like another overrated young adult novel that had no substance to it aside from pretty faces and a hollow love story. (I've also heard about the "huge similarity" between the Hunger Games
and Japan's Battle Royale
movies, I've also checked that out so spare me. I see the similarity but I don't think it's a rip-off at all).
After watching CBG19's "Catching Fire: Epic Docu-Review
," I now think I've unfairly judged it too soon (I mean, like I said, the movie was neat but it only grazed the tip of the iceberg that is the whole story), and will be buying them soon!
Jackie Kashian is a stand-up comedian of the nerdiest kind. After all, her latest special is titled "This Will Make An Excellent Horcrux", she hosts a podcast called "Dork Forest
" which regularly features a bevy of funny & nerdy guests who explain their favorite topics to dork out over, and she married a video game designer.
As a comedian, she tours often with fellow stand up Maria Bamford and was featured as the opening act in Maria's riotously funny "Special Special Special".
Following in the recent commendable pattern of other comedians who self-release their specials, Jackie has made hers available for $5 at All Things Comedy
. This business model is beneficial for both comedians & fans by removing the costly (and sometimes arbitrarily selective) distribution middle-man.
For a sample of her comedy, you can check out her set from Conan:
And you can also check out the trailer for her special:

My intention for today was to post something that DIDN'T come from youtube but after watching and guffawing at this video, I just had to share!
YouTube Comment Reconstruction #1
comes to us from Dead Parrot
and the video is a dramatic reading of a comment war between two 'Directioners.'
The YouTube comment section can sometimes make you question humanity, so to cheer you up we're bringing you dramatic reconstructions of some of the best comment wars. This time it's between 'Sophie Danze' and 'Jilianlovesthebeibs' on "One Direction - What Makes You Beautiful." Enjoy and why not start your own argument in the comment section below.
One of the most adorkable reactions from a ginger I've seen in a while! AND he watches Doctor Who! I love him already!
Take a gander at these hilarious skits by comedian Pete Holmes (as Charles Xavier) firing the more 'useless' mutants from his team of super mutants in Ex-Men!
The 50th anniversary special is fast approaching and holyshitomgwtflol, the stuff the BBC is pulling out! Here's a teaser of the special IN WHICH DAVID TENNANT WEARS A FEZ AND NOW I'VE LOST CONTROL OF MY BLADDER!!!!!
There's even a little something for older fans of the series (though this isn't too far of a stretch into the past. At all.) involving Paul McGann's 8th incarnation of the Doctor! Squee! Also: ...wut?
This may very well be the best -- and I mean BEST. Thing. Ever.
Loki wants to know: Who's better, him or Thor?
Eeek! We're now a week away from the premiere of Doctor Who
's second half of season 7!
We've already been given the heads up on the return of classic-Who monsters, the Ice Warriors, but what else is in store? To be honest, I don't know where to start because I'm too busy wetting my pants and gawking at the new design of the Cybermen!
While we wait, if you haven't seen it already because you're like me and living under a rock, watch the teaser trailer now!
Also, please take notice that I am making a HUGE effort not to complain about the opening titles from the Christmas episode, the new TARDIS console and the Doctor's apparently new purple jacket. I won't. I can't. I'm likely to rage and leave nearby villages in absolute ruin. In the meantime, enjoy!
And as an added bonus, here are four Doctor Who movie-posters the BBC released for the upcoming episodes!
Much to the surprise of...a few people, Mashable reported that Apple's iOS6 shall be dropping the YouTube app. So what is one to do if you're a YouTube junkie? Easy, either go to m.youtube.com in your mobile browser or turn to services like Vimeo or, hell, Tumblr even has a decent video hosting service.
I keep seeing the intranetz harping about how shocking this is. If you've used the app, you'll know it's not. Brazen? Yes. Shocking? No. Also, if you've been paying attention, you'll remember that Apple also dropped Google Maps and replaced it with its own service. (Oh, and did I forget to mention that YouTube is owned by Google?)
Keep an eye out, the dropping of YouTube could only mean that Apple either created a new service or they're sitting on news of a new partnership. Exciting times ahead!
If you're like me and still haven't gotten tired of dorking out for Christopher Nolan's epic conclusion to his Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, then, guess what? Here's a little nugget for you!
No doubt you're familiar with the "He rises" Moroccan chant themed throughout the film. I know it gives me goosebumps every time I hear it!
I'm not at all surprised that someone recognized the intensity of the chant and used it to prove it makes everything epic and intense! Need proof? Check out the video below! This person combined several funny videos and concludes with cats to prove that, yes, the "Deshay Basara" chant does indeed make everything epic!
