Nerdist: Well, it sounds like you’re up to the task. Tell us a bit about Next Testament and what we can expect.
Mark Miller: It’s about a man who unearths God – The God – and soon discovers he’s made a terrible mistake. This is the God of the Old Testament we’re talking about here. He’s not exactly known for being rational or compassionate. As for what to expect from the series, I’m going to go with sex, violence, and sacrilege. Y’know, all the important stuff.
From Variety: “Jacqueline Ess” is the story of a woman who, in her thirst for change, achieves the ability to transform people’s bodies at will. It originally appeared in Barker’s “Books of Blood” anthologies, which also included the stories that were basis for the horror films “Lord of Illusions” and “Candyman.”Keep an eye out, it sounds like it's going to be another great Barker creeper!
I’m excited by the opportunity to interweave two very rich narrative threads. One of them concerns itself with the reality of the decadence of Rome and its rise and fall. The other is a fantastical narrative element - the living dead. My brief to myself on this project is to give the audience not only zombies they have never seen before but also a Rome they have never seen before. Amazon Studios offered up the dream ticket with this project. In twenty-five years of working in this town, I've rarely had people listen to what I had to say as closely and as carefully as they did and then simply give me the freedom to go do it. Amazon Studios is an innovative creative concept. I am looking forward to providing my own perspective to make Zombies vs. Gladiators a highly commercial and entertaining movie.Checking out their Amazon Studios page doesn't reveal much, but they do have a set of spec-trailers ready for viewing! No further details or shoot/release dates are available at this time.
